Position Type: Student; to be eligible for a student position, the applicant must be enrolled in a secondary school, college, or university programme, in a full-time capacity for the fall semester.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week: regular schedule is 8:30 am - 4:00 pm onsite/in-person; flexibility of hours may be required. This student position is available from early May until the end of August.

BASIC FUNCTION
The Indigenous Gathering Circle Coordinator Student’s role is to assist with the development of the Indigenous Gathering Circle at Wellington Place. This will be the first dedicated Indigenous space in Wellington County, a site for engaging, learning, reflecting and celebrating. The Indigenous Gathering Circle Coordinator summer student will work with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Indigenous Advisory Committee to facilitate volunteers, planting, maintenance and engagement of the Indigenous Community.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination of the planting of trees and medicines at the Indigenous Gathering Circle, including facilitating volunteers.
- Maintenance of the space, including watering of plants and trees and weeding.
- Engaging the public in the site by supporting events and activities.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed one year of a college or university programme in environmental sciences or related discipline.
- An understanding of Indigenous approaches to land based values.
- Some experience with supervision of volunteers.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather (temperature and precipitation).
- Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00 (2025 Student Compensation Grid)
Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.
Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent.
Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
