Position Type: Student; to be eligible for a student position, the applicant must be enrolled in a secondary school, college, or university programme, in a full-time capacity for the fall semester.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week: regular schedule is 8:30 am - 4:00 pm onsite/in-person; flexibility of hours may be required. This student position is available from early May until the end of August.

BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Archivist and Curator, this position is primarily responsible for working on an oral history project which is one component of the WCMA’s, House of Industry 150th anniversary celebrations in 2027. As time permits, cataloguing and reference duties will be assigned in the Archives and assistance will be given to the Curatorial team with exhibit installations as necessary.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, arrange, conduct and transcribe oral history interviews.
- Use proper care and handling procedures when working with the archival and artifact collections.
- Ability to read cursive writing.
- Scan documents and photographs of all sizes.
- Attention to detail is imperative.
- Use email, Microsoft Office Suite, Past Perfect software, online databases (ie. Ancestry.ca), photocopier, scanner, audio visual software, digital camera, microfilm and microfiche readers.
- Assist other members of staff with collections management projects and exhibit installation as necessary.
- Assist with public festivals, events, and programmes as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrollment in a secondary school, college or university programme, in a full-time capacity for the fall semester.
- Able to carry heavy boxes and climb ladders.
- Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and cataloguing software.
- Familiarity with digital cameras and audio-visual software is an asset.
- Research experience preferred.
- Detail oriented.
Pay Range: $19.50 - $20.50 (2026 Student Compensation Grid)
Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.
Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent.
Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
