BASIC FUNCTION
This position reports to the Technical Services Supervisor. They are responsible to provide in-house technical and administrative support, related to the management of the County’s transportation network.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance with various County asset management and road construction projects.
- Assist with evaluating cross culvert structure conditions that are under 3.0 metres in width.
- Perform traffic movement studies at various intersections, speeding reviews, traffic counts and vehicle classification throughout County.
- Download and process data collected from traffic/transportation studies.
- Review traffic needs and warrants for future transportation system improvements.
- Verify timing requirements for traffic signals locations to ensure optimal operation.
- Enter data into database and spreadsheets.
- Maintain and update hard copy and electronic filing systems for Roads Division.
- Perform other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a college civil engineering based programme in a full time capacity, preferably in a traffic/transportation related studies engineering programme.
- A valid driver’s licence (minimum G2 Class), access to a reliable vehicle, and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Experience using computer software such as AutoCAD Drafting and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage a project to completion on a timely basis.
- Ability to organize and manage priorities.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
Pay Range: $28.04 - $36.05 (2025 Student Compensation Grid)
Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.
Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent.
Parking: Provided; taxable benefit provisions apply.
Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
