BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Manager of Economic Development, this position is responsible for providing a reception function and assisting with Economic Development project coordination as assigned.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phone calls, responding to email and public inquiries, scheduling and setting up meetings, and maintaining records.
- Provide support for department projects and programmes, including but not limited to the Taste Real, Tourism Signage programmes.
- Provide customer service support for the County’s RIDE WELL rural transit service.
- Maintain office organization and oversee office supply inventory, including coordinating and mailing promotional materials and prizes.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and facilitate the submission of the monthly Committee report.
- Review documents and materials for accessibility, and prepare public-facing documents in accessible formats using Equidox software.
- Assist with proofing e-newsletters, sending out communications, and maintaining the departmental website, including managing the Wellington County community events calendar, and the Wellington County Business Directory.
- Support the creation and scheduling of social media content and marketing for the division.
- Assist with the coordination and promotion of festivals, events and workshops.
- Provide support for departmental events including RSVP coordination, preparing name tags and materials, audio visual setup, and event setup/preparation.
- Prepare, setup and tend to the Economic Development booth at public events.
- Provide friendly and professional service to the public, representing the County.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two Year College Diploma in business administration or related field.
- Minimum one year of experience or equivalent in economic development or related field, preferably within a municipal setting.
- Experience in event coordination and/or public/media relations is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), email and web-based applications.
- Excellent customer service skills, reflecting a positive, outgoing, and professional demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with members of the public.
- Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Able to respect and exercise confidentiality.
- Strong commitment to functioning as part of a team.
- Professionalism, representing the County of Wellington.
Pay Range: $53,963.00 - $63,172.20 (2025 Non-Union Compensation Grid).
Benefits: Long Term Disability, Life Coverage, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Critical Illness, Extended Health Care, Emergency Travel Assistance, Dental Care; mandatory enrolment, premiums 100% covered.
Pension: Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS); enrolment mandatory.
Medical Responsibility Time: Prorated and accrues at 0.5 days/month. Short Term Disability: 17 weeks coverage at 75% or 100% of pay, based on length of service.
Vacation: Accrues to start at three weeks/annum; increases based on length of service.
Parking: Provided; taxable benefit provisions apply.
Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
