Position Type: Student; to be eligible for a student position, the applicant must be enrolled in a secondary school, college, or university programme, in a full-time capacity for the fall semester.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week: regular schedule is 8:30 am - 4:00 pm onsite/in-person; flexibility of hours may be required. This student position is available from early May until the end of August.

BASIC FUNCTION

Reporting to the Capital Asset Supervisor, the Capital Works Student is responsible for assisting the Capital Works team with day-to-day operations within assigned building locations in the City of Guelph.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Capital Works Coordinators with filing and paperwork.
  • Ability to provide general administration support to staff working in the housing office, including but not limited to file management, data entry and photocopying.
  • Providing support to tenants by addressing inquiries, assistance with maintenance requests, facilitating communication between tenants and Capital Works Coordinators, and ensuring a positive living experience through prompt and effective resolutions. 
  • Researching projects (i.e. market rent surveys, telephone surveys, special housing projects, etc.).
  • Data entry of capital project information into Yardi database systems.
  • Organizing and filing maintenance documentation.
  • Keeping accurate records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolment in a high school, college or university and be returning for full time studies.
  • Enrolment in an architecture, building science technology, engineering technology or construction management programme is considered an asset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00 (2025 Student Compensation Grid)

Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.

Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent.                        

Parking: Provided; taxable benefit provisions apply.
