Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week: regular schedule is 8:30 am - 4:00 pm onsite/in-person; flexibility of hours may be required. This student position is available from early May until the end of August.

BASIC FUNCTION

The HR Student will support the HR Department by assisting with data entry, filing, answering inquires from both the public and employees, and administrative support as required for Recruitment, Health and Safety, Payroll, Pension, Benefits and various other Human Resources functions. The HR Student reports to the Manager of Strategic Wellness Initiatives.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the Manager of Strategic Wellness Initiatives, the HR Student will assist with following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide and seek guidance regarding general information and assistance to members of the public and other staff.
  • Maintain and update personnel and HR filing systems, including creating new employee files and archiving when necessary.
  • Data entry into the HR systems as needed. 
  • Assist with arrangements for meetings and training sessions including securing locations, supporting registration, ordering food and preparing materials as required. 
  • Maintenance of Human Resource forms and information accessed by employees on company intranet/internet.
  • Provide back-up to Reception for parking-related duties.
  • Process mail and distribute to members of HR Department.
  • Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrollment in a secondary school, college or university programme, in a full-time capacity for the fall semester.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and good organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully; customer service experience would be an asset.

Pay Range: $19.00 - $20.00 (2025 Student Compensation Grid)

Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.

Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent.                        

Parking: Provided; taxable benefit provisions apply.

Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
