BASIC FUNCTION
This position reports to the IT Support Supervisor and will assist in the support of the County’s IT Helpdesk operations. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and security of desktop hardware and software in place at all County work locations.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to and trouble shoot hardware and software problems at all locations.
- Escalate difficult problems to Level III support.
- Participate as a team member in any desktop update projects.
- Keep all desktop software current with the appropriate product upgrades and patches.
- Ensure that all computers are maintained to run at their full capacity.
- Recommend desktop hardware upgrades when and where appropriate.
- Maintain desktop hardware and software usage lists.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in University or College in a full time capacity, preferably in a Computer Technology Support / Networking Support programme.
- Experience in Technology Support.
- Experience with current Windows Operating Systems.
- Working knowledge of configuring hardware and peripherals.
- Knowledge of current Microsoft Office products.
- A valid driver’s licence (minimum G2 Class) and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
Pay Range: $28.04 - $36.05 (2025 Student Compensation Grid)
Pension: As a non-full-time (NFT) employee of an OMERS employer, you are eligible to elect to join the OMERS Pension Plan at any time. Enrollment in OMERS is voluntary.
Medical Responsibility Time: One day for every 1,000 hours worked, up to a maximum of three days annually.
Vacation: Paid out on each pay at the rate of six percent; increases based on length of service.
Parking: Provided; taxable benefit provisions apply.
Mileage: If applicable, as per CRA allowances.
